A fun day with Natalia

Natalia, Ximena's eight year old cousin, spent a couple of days with us and we had a great time together. Natalia really knows how to make Ximena smile. We played a lot of songs in UTube and danced for her and she wouldn't stop smiling and moving her arms and legs. Natalia also enjoyed dressing Ximena as "Super Baby" and took pictures of her with her cape and everything else she could find around the house.

Starting on solids

We finally started Ximena on some rice cereal but she did not like it much. It was fun though seeing her make all kinds of funny faces and get her face covered with it. She liked a lot more the apple sauce Gerber she had a few days later. She was so happy eating it I was afraid she would have too much and get sick, but so far she seems to be fine. We'll try other flavors soon and maybe will get back to the cereal with some fruit this time.

An exciting month

Ximena is five months old now and she is beautiful and sweet. It has been a very exciting month for the Whyte family. She just recently rolled over for the first time and we were super excited about it. I was reading a book next to her while she was playing on her mat when I saw her trying to turn. I was really tempted to help her, but decided to let her try on her own and she did it!!! Of course I called Robert immediately and told him all about it. She still does not like to be on her tummy, but it seems like she cannot help but rolling over every time she is playing on a flat surface. The day she turned five months, she decided to sleep through the night too. That was almost as exciting as rolling over (probably more, but I guess I should not admit it). This month also, she started sitting up without support. She still needs close supervision because she loses her balance easily, but I am sure she will master this art in a few weeks. Today, we went to Ximena’s preschool for the first time and she stayed for 2 ½ hours. Wow!!! I stayed with her for a full hour though . We’ll try to go and stay for a couple of hours every day so she can get to know her teachers and classmates before she starts going for longer periods of time.

A great family day

Today we started off the day with a photo session of Ximena in her Liga Deportiva Alajuelense shirt (Robert's favorite costarrican fútbol team). We are sending them to Robert's grandpa, aunt and Tyson, one of his very best friends. Then we headed to Chatherine and Charline's who were expecting us for lunch and some pool time.

Ximena's Grandparents are visiting from Costa Rica (Robert's parents) and it made the day even more fun.
Today was her first time in a swimming pool and we did not know what to expect. She is sort of cold natured, but it ended up being a great experience for all of us. She looked absolutely adorable in her swimming suite and she was moving her legs like Michael Phelps.

Bath time

Today, Ximena decided to take a nap before her bath. After that, everything went as smooth as usual and we all enjoyed it.

Hoy Ximena decidió tomar una siesta antes de su baño. Después de haber descansado, todo transcurrió sin problemas.

Fairwell to grandma

Today, we were at the airport saying goodbye to Ximena’s grandma who accompanied us for three months. It was a sad day, but we will see her again soon.

Hoy fuimos al aeropuerto a despedir a la abuelita de Ximena que nos acompañó por tres meses. Fue un día triste, pero la veremos muy pronto otra vez.

Day One, March 5th 2008

Ximena (pronounced hee-men-ah) Victoria Whyte was born on a Wednesday, eleven minutes past noon. She weighed 6 pounds and 15 oz and was 20.25 in. long. Ximena is a long baby for a couple of shorty parents (5'-1" and 5'-8") but not quite as heavy as we want her to be. We are working on getting her fatter with her delicious (not!!) elemental formula.
